I went for apple picking this season. Result! Bags of apples at home. We have been trying to finish them off..so the best option we could think of is making apple pie! Here it is!

This is the first time I baked a pie! It tastes awesome but the shape could have been much better!

I am splitting the process into different stages : making crust, filling and finally baking

Ingredients:

For the crust:

1.Self raising flour/ All purpose flour – 2 cups

2. Salt – tsp

3. Sugar – 1 tsp

4. Butter- 5

5. shortening – 6 tsp

6. Water – 6-9 tsp (Use cold water)

Now In a large bowl pix the flour, salt, butter, shortening, sugar and use water to mix. Finally it should look like like chapati dough. With a food wrapper, wrapp up the dough and refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes. (In the mean time prepare the filling)

Take the dough out and let it cool for some time. Once it cool’s down. Now here I used the chapati roller and rolled the total dough continuously for about 10 minutes.

Cut the dough into half. You get 2 large chucks of dough.Make 2 large round chapatis.

Take a pie base( I used aluminum foil base) and unroll one of the round chapati on the pie pan.

For the filling:

1. Apples -4

2. Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp

3. honey -1 tsp

4. salt-1/4 tsp

5. flour -2 tsp

6. Vinegar – 1 tsp

Peel all the apples and cut them length wise or u can even make into small cubes. And soak them. In the mean time, in a bowl add cinnamon powder, honey, salt, vinegar and flour. Mix them well.

Now Drain the water from apples and add to powder and mix well.

Now its time for putting the filling into the crust base.

Take another chapati and close the pie pan and clover the edges with aluminum wrapper so that when you bake the edges don’t burn. If you want you can create patterns on top of the pie using a knife.

Now Bake the pie at 400 degrees for 1 hours.
